A Trip to the Chiropractor: What to Expect

Many people unfamiliar with chiropractic care have misguided information and preconceived notions about what really goes on during a visit. In an effort to set the record straight, and provide both our current and future clients with a clear vision of what we do, we have compiled a list of what to expect when you come in for a chiropractic adjustment.

First: Understanding “Chiropractic”

Chiropractic care is all about restoring or maintaining overall health. It involves an understanding of the body as a whole unit, and then works to fix the “kinks” or subluxations that might be causing pain. Through the manipulation of the spine and joints, chiropractic care helps restore proper nervous function and flow. This in turn allows the body to function properly – from healthy muscle function, to the relief of pain, to proper digestion, and more.

Second: The Adjustment Process

A chiropractic adjustment releases pressure on the spine by realigning vertebrae and correcting problems. The “cracking” sound often associated with chiropractic care is simply a release of pressure that puts the body at ease and in harmony with itself. The adjustment process begins with a consultation, and an understanding of each client’s individual problems. Through touch, our chiropractors identify the issue and painlessly correct it through our tried and true techniques and adept training. The body is then able to work as a cohesive unit, free from interrupted nerve flow and resulting pain.

Third: Importance of Consistency

Routine chiropractic care can benefit anyone – elite athletes, stay-at-home moms, adolescents, and senior citizens.  The benefits of chiropractic are not unique to a specific population. Rather, the root of chiropractic care involves proper body functioning as whole. Establishing a regular regimen of chiropractic care is key to overall wellness. Just as you have a regular workout schedule, regular chiropractic care can be both preventative and restorative.
