It may not always seem like it, but you have the power to be a shining beacon of positivity in a virtual sea of negativity. This is because you, and only you, have the power to control your own thoughts and actions.
There are ways you can defend yourself against negative thinking and support a positive outlook in your life, which will have a great impact on your health and happiness! Here’s how to embrace the positive and say goodbye to the negative!
Not Your Monkey, Not Your Circus
You cannot control the thoughts and actions of others. Even if people are saying negative things about you it’s still not something you can control personally. Sometimes people are just negative no matter what you do so it’s hardly worth your time and energy to try and change a negative person’s mind. Just remember that they’re negativity most of the time speaks volumes about them while it says nothing about you!
Feel Free to be You!
Think back to when you were a kid, before the world tried to pigeonhole you and tell you who they thought you should be. When you think back to a more innocent version of yourself, what did you think? You can only really be happy with yourself when you stop comparing yourself to other people. You may not have a life where you’re destined for the white picket fence and 2.5 kids but it doesn’t matter! What matters is what you want and what will make you happy. Have you asked yourself lately what that is?
Really, Life is Pretty Fantastic
It can be easy to get bogged down by the expectations of others and the “woulda, coulda, shoulda” of life. Your life, and no one else’s, will never be perfect. Even Kate Middleton has her bad hair days. Just make sure that you greet each day thinking about what you’ve got and to view every day as a gift.
There Will Be Bad Days
Because of the previous point that life is never perfect, you’re going to run into your bad days. You have to take the good with the bad and try to take it all in stride. Certainly it’s easy to get bogged down by the little things in life that don’t go your way, but in the bigger picture you’re probably doing pretty well for yourself – don’t you think?
Try to identify what the biggest source of your negativity is in your life and come up with a plan to try and deal with it. What can you do to try and stay motivated?
