No one wants to look older than they are, and no one wants to do things to age themselves. But, the lives that many people lead are not conducive to looking young. Here are some things you may be unknowingly doing that will age your skin prematurely!
This is your skin’s public enemy number one! The fine lines that people develop on their face are often due to stress. So, there’s no time like the present to try and de-stress! Pamper yourself with a massage periodically and give yourself a face massage to help keep those wrinkles at bay. You can also incorporate regular exercise or mediation into your routine to help you keep stress away.
If you’re not getting enough sleep then your skin will suffer! During sleep your body rests and rejuvenates, including your skin. So, if you’re not getting enough then it will show up, quite literally, on your face. It can cause your skin to be dry and dull and this ultimately leads to your skin looking aged. You are also more susceptible to having dark circles under your eyes and that can make you look older.
The fix for this is pretty simple: have a bedtime that you stick to 7 days a week. Also make sure that you shut off the TV and any other electronics (including reading devices!) off at least one hour before bedtime.
How healthy your diet is will be directly reflected by your skin. Keeping your body nourished means that its largest organ, the skin, will stay nourished as well. This means you need to not only eat right but also stay hydrated!
Plus, your skin renews itself with the vitamins and minerals you provide it. If you’re not supplying enough of these vital nutrients then your skin will show the signs. You will want to be aware of how much alcohol you ingest, along with the amount of salt in fried and salty foods you consume. Be kind to your skin by drinking more water and following a healthy diet!
You may not think about this one very often, but it’s a factor in the health of your skin! You may not be able to wield the control over pollution that you can with other skin aging factors, but there are things you can do to prevent it. First and foremost, make a sunscreen a part of your daily routine. This protects your skin from UV rays and free radicals. Also, don’t forget that the simple act of washing your face every night will have a huge impact!
